Fleet Manager

Job Summary:

The Fleet Manager at US Foods is responsible for overseeing all aspects of fleet maintenance and operations. This includes creating a safe and productive work culture, supervising union and non-union technicians, managing repairs and compliance, supporting electric vehicle (EV) fleet rollout, and ensuring regulatory adherence. The role requires leadership in sustainability initiatives and fleet modernization efforts.

Roles and Duties:

• Oversee fleet maintenance operations and ensure workplace safety.
• Promote a culture of safety, service, and operational efficiency.
• Interview, hire, train, and evaluate fleet technicians.
• Ensure vehicle compliance with manufacturer specs and regulations (DOT, OSHA).
• Manage warranties, parts inventory, fuel purchases, and budget planning.
• Coordinate with drivers and external services for roadside repairs.
• Support electrification projects for Class 6 & 8 vehicles and sustainability goals.
• Produce performance reports (daily, weekly, yearly).
• Collaborate across departments including Transportation, Warehouse, and Sales.
• Travel as required (approximately 10%) for meetings and training.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to occasionally stand, walk, climb, kneel, bend, twist, grasp, and manipulate objects.
• Must frequently drive and sit; occasional lifting/pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.
• Work in office, shop, warehouse, and outdoor environments, including extreme temperatures and vibration/noise levels.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Minimum 5 years of fleet equipment experience and 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of DOT, Hazmat, OSHA regulations.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple functions in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed.
• High school diploma or GED required; Thermo King and other certifications preferred.
• State inspection license and CDL (Class A or B) preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

Base salary range: $69,000 – $125,000 annually. Compensation will be based on experience, education, skills, and location.
