Job Summary:
The Fleet Manager at US Foods is responsible for overseeing all aspects of fleet maintenance and operations. This includes creating a safe and productive work culture, supervising union and non-union technicians, managing repairs and compliance, supporting electric vehicle (EV) fleet rollout, and ensuring regulatory adherence. The role requires leadership in sustainability initiatives and fleet modernization efforts.
Roles and Duties:
- Oversee fleet maintenance operations and ensure workplace safety.
- Promote a culture of safety, service, and operational efficiency.
- Interview, hire, train, and evaluate fleet technicians.
- Ensure vehicle compliance with manufacturer specs and regulations (DOT, OSHA).
- Manage warranties, parts inventory, fuel purchases, and budget planning.
- Coordinate with drivers and external services for roadside repairs.
- Support electrification projects for Class 6 & 8 vehicles and sustainability goals.
- Produce performance reports (daily, weekly, yearly).
- Collaborate across departments including Transportation, Warehouse, and Sales.
- Travel as required (approximately 10%) for meetings and training.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to occasionally stand, walk, climb, kneel, bend, twist, grasp, and manipulate objects.
- Must frequently drive and sit; occasional lifting/pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.
- Work in office, shop, warehouse, and outdoor environments, including extreme temperatures and vibration/noise levels.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Minimum 5 years of fleet equipment experience and 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of DOT, Hazmat, OSHA regulations.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple functions in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required; Thermo King and other certifications preferred.
- State inspection license and CDL (Class A or B) preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
Base salary range: $69,000 – $125,000 annually. Compensation will be based on experience, education, skills, and location.
