Job Summary:

General Mills is seeking a strategic and agile Customer Account Lead II (CAL II) to manage and grow key customer relationships with both the U.S. Military (DeCA) and Spartan Nash. This high-impact position offers a unique opportunity to lead across Military and Wholesale channels while managing a ~$200MM RNS business. The role involves customer leadership, trade planning, and team management, and is split evenly between the two businesses. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build general management capabilities and lead with influence across internal and external teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Leadership & Business Strategy:
    • Lead customer relationships with Spartan Nash and DeCA (Military)
    • Develop and execute strategic business plans, securing new items and corporate initiatives
    • Collaborate with internal teams to drive promotions, innovation, and merchandising
  • Trade Planning & Execution:
    • Maintain accurate trade data in planning systems
    • Implement trade programs aligned with GMI strategy and customer needs
    • Use analytics to improve trade investment and execution
  • Leadership & Development:
    • Manage one direct report and an external broker network
    • Foster an inclusive, accountable team culture
    • Travel to customer HQs and Military bases to gain insight and strengthen relationships
  • Analytics & Problem Solving:
    • Leverage syndicated/internal data (Nielsen, IRI, CPM) to identify business opportunities
    • Apply category management to optimize display, shelf space, and distribution
    • Utilize internal systems like Trade Planner and Distribution Planner to guide decisions
